Federer's backward pants, & the first Telugu novelist | #55
Also, facts about Mohanlal that you don't know!
Mitron,
Tennis is a sport with deuces, advantages and backhand compliments. Also, you get to hear “love all” a lot.
Grand Slam season is among us. We’ve been privileged to see the very top of the men’s game be dominated by 3 giants all within striking distance of each other in the Grand Slam win count. This week we dedicate the newsletter to the generational talents of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Things we learnt this week:
Roger Federer is known to respect tennis’ many traditions and its history. When he won his 5th straight Wimbledon title in 2007, he changed into a pristine white suit to receive the trophy. Later he realized he had actually worn his pants backwards. It takes some skill to wear pants backwards, something worthy of Roger Federer.
The Expendables film series sees a bunch of old action heroes strut their stuff. Novak Djokovic was supposed to join them for a cameo in Expendables 2. He shot for it in Bulgaria, and the scene was supposed to end with English actor Jason Statham saying “Thanks, but I am still rooting for Andy Murray”. The scene was cut in the final film and you can see why.
Not many can claim to have great chemistry with Shakira. She became a gyspy for Rafael Nadal in a steamy music video. Shakira decided to cast Nadal because she believed Nadal was someone she could identify with. Proper nerve and volley this.

They say marriages are made in heaven, but I think we are right in saying - this party can go to hell.
